Lip Balm!
Dear reader, I have never been able to find lip balm in the shops that were the right texture, smell, formulation and moisturizing and nourishing factor to suit my needs, which is very frustrating. After getting inspiration from a make your own lip balm kit I was given for Christmas, which only made 2 tiny pots, I decided I'd give it some research and have a go at making some myself. After some trial and error, I perfected my own recipe, and recently made several batches of lip balm.
Part of my batch were all vegan friendly to cater for my vegan friends. I made about 40 pots, and I gave them away to all my friends and family - they make great little luxury gifts, especially around Christmas time.
I now have some for myself and they are indeed very yummylicious.....so much so, I have stopped buying propriety manufactured brands of lip balm, and now exclusively use my own hand made lip balm.
The lip balms were all very moisturizing and also very nourishing for chapped lips. They do contain shea butter and various oils including coconut oil. The base of the vegan friendly lip balm was soy wax, and the base of all the others was beeswax. They smelled of either ylang ylang and patchouli or mandarin and ylang ylang! Gorgeous!
I really loved how satisfying it was to make them, and as I often have chapped lips due to picking at them from anxiety, I needed some myself! It was a very enjoyable process and I plan on making more for next Christmas for family and friends!
