Whittling!
Hello readers!
I started whittling in 2017, back then I never knew it would turn into such a cherished hobby...
Back in 2017 I wasn't keen on any outdoors activity but I went on a course called Wellbeing in the Wild run by the Sussex Recovery College. They specialise in running supportive courses for people who have mental health difficulties. The course was organised in conjunction with Sussex Wildlife Trust.
I learnt how to build and light a fire. We cooked sausages and soup. Also learnt how to use an outdoor kelly kettle to heat water to make a cuppa.
I absolutely loved it!!!
Off the back of the Wellbeing in the Wild, I went back to volunteer with Sussex Wildlife Trust.
Then I went on two courses called Without Walls. Run by a local charity called Education Futures Trust. With them, gained 2 John Muir awards in nature conservation.
I started learning how to carve a butter knife. Then progressed on to a welsh love spoon. And mini spoons. A whistle followed by a fork. Then I made some bear figures, a Robin, and a few Santa Claus Christmas tree decorations.
