Poetry
Dear Readers,
I like writing and reading poetry...my favourite poet is Byron (George Gordon) however, my favourite poem is by D.H Lawrence:
I like to write poetry because they reflect my thoughts and feelings. Sometimes they are written from a more soulful and spiritual position. Some selected poems from my collection that I have written over the years follow. If you have any comments on them, I'd love to hear feedback of any kind.
A Girl
(2007)
I once knew a wretched girl
Who loathed herself
Carried a weight on her shoulders
And strayed into darkness
I once knew this wretched girl
She had no shame and no love
She blamed the world and all asunder
Then sullied His good name
I once knew a very wretched girl
Who tried to take the life God gave
But was saved by His good grace
And remains penitent to this day
Now the girl is wretched no more
She's learnt humility
Found salvation in His arms
And rejoices in God's gift everyday
She’s seen the light of God
And says Hallelujah
As she ascends from darkness
And into the rainbow
Self-pity
I never saw a wild thing
sorry for itself.
A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough
without ever having felt sorry for itself.

Angel
(2007)
My Guardian Angel looks out for me
In the moments of silence
She guides me from darkness
Into the Light of safety
In the quiet snatches
She leads me from shadows
And into the warmth of day
My guardian Angel looks out for me
She is always with me
When I am tired and weary
She gives me strength and clarity
When I am sinking low
She helps me to fly high
Free from burden and self pity
My Guardian Angel looks out for me
In the chaos and mayhem
She brings music to my ears
Softly soothing me
In a moment of loss
She guides me to the answers
And takes my hand lifting me
Be Not Afraid Of Me
(2005)
As I lay me down to sleep, your touch soothes me in my dreams.
Even far apart, my love still burns for you.
To love you is my faith and belief.
May my desire to be your flame of warmth and love spark your soul.
Behold me as I am, hear my voice whispering.
Touch me, caress your palms over my face.
Be not afraid of my body.
Will you hold me dear in your heart?
Will you watch over me, hold your hand before in protection?
Stand guard for me, speak in defence of me?
As I speak for you, speak for me.
Trust in me as I trust in you.
Behold me as I stand, hear my voice shouting.
Touch me, smooth your hands over me.
Be not afraid of my body.
Goodbye
(2005)
Would you miss me?
Would you feel the space I vacated?
Would you think about me?
And remember the good times?
Would you learn from the past we made,
And not hurt your next love as you did me?
I hope you are loved in the future after me
As you are loved now as I write
And were loved before me.
