Happy Book
Hello Readers!
I love crafting so I thought I'd make myself what I call a "Happy Book". Its filled with positive, uplifting, happy quotes, sentiments and advice to lift me out of a slump. Whenever I need a pick me up I can open it up and read it.
I live with a mental health condition called schizoaffective disorder. It is described as like having bipolar and schizophrenia together. I was diagnosed in my early 20s. I get good days and bad days, just like anyone.
However, for me, when my bad days begin to outnumber my good days, I get sectioned under the mental health act and detained in hospital in a psychiatric ward against my will, for my own wellbeing and safety. This is part and parcel of living with schizoaffective disorder.
My relapses can last a few months at a time. But my remissions last a fair few months at a time too. Sometimes its monsters and demons, other times it's all rainbows and unicorns!
Below is a link to a YouTube video that I made of my own Happy Book. I hope you enjoy watching it! Maybe it will inspire you to make one for yourself, it could be like a self-care and/or self-soothing manual for everyday use, applicable to anyone, not just for people struggling with their mental health.
Stay positive!
I made the book base; covers, spine and pages from scratch. Then decorated and embellished each page using various techniques. These include typing out pages on the computer, stamping, die cut ephemera, washi tape, stickers, and using designer backing papers.
